Bells of Hope

“Holed Up for a Year, I Hope…”

Holy Week musical post from Emmanuel’s Handbell Choir

Directed by Ryan Fitch, MM

A most wonderful balm for pandemic weary souls has been the gift of music. Throughout this year of Sundays, Ryan Fitch, Emmanuel’s Music Director, has creatively orchestrated our weekly worship broadcasted from the nave. For our virtual liturgy of Morning Prayer, Ryan has included the voices of cantors and choir members. Instrumentally we have enjoyed hearing Ryan play the organ and piano, the Guitar Circle perform, and the Handbell Choir ring.

Playing, singing, and ringing out hope!

For Holy Week the Handbell Choir has recorded two beautiful hymns: The Old Rugged Cross for Palm Sunday and Christ the Lord is Risen Today for Easter. The videos, produced by Ryan, also include beautiful imagery along with lyrics.

With no further ado, here they are. Enjoy and please, share widely!

Many thanks to the Ringers: Steven Grayson, Beth Boland, Courtney Hines, Emily Coda, Thomas Cruz, Andrew Chriss, Will Chriss, Amy Schildge, Meredith Martino, Karen Coda, Lee Larkin & Bridget Flaaen.

And…

Emmanuel has recently added another octave of bells! If you would like to contribute to the Adopt-a-Bell Fundraiser, click here!

Happy Easter!

Ryan Fitch, MM is Director of Music at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Alexandria, VA.
