Object suggested: A newspaper or magazine that has a headline of good news.
Good news makes us feel happy.
When you return home after being away for a while your dog wags its tail showing happiness.
That you came home is good news to your dog.
There are many things that make us happy and when we feel that way we usually want to share our happiness with others. If something wonderful happens while you are at school you may feel like you can hardly wait to get home to tell your Mom or Dad.
There are lots of ways we share Good News.
A headline in the newspaper may describe some great thing that has happened or a happy event may be reported on radio or television.
You might email your friends and family when you have personal good news. Let’s think of some examples:
perhaps your grandparents are coming for a visit,
you have a new pet,
you are going on a trip,
you won an award or
received good grades.
Can you think of other examples of good news?
Jesus gave this instruction to his disciples as he sent them out to tell others about God’s kingdom; the healing and miracles that had taken place. Jesus told them that, as they went, they should preach the Good News that “The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand” (10:7).
Having God’s love in our lives is Good News.
Your happiness about this Good News may show itself in quiet ways like:
how you treat others with kindness,
how you smile and laugh, and
how you find thoughtful things to do for others.
We can all proclaim the Good News that “God loves you and God loves me.”
Have fun everyone. And don’t forget: “God loves you and God loves me.”
